Fall 2018 meeting

The Fall 2018 meeting of the North Carolina Geographical Society will take place on Friday, November 9th, in Durham, NC. The event will be held on the campus of North Carolina Central University.

We would like to congratulate the 2018 student poster awardees:

Graduate poster awardee:

  • A GIS Analysis of Swine Lagoons and Premature Cancer Deaths, Carter Sink, NCCU

and there was a tie for the undergraduate poster category:

  •  Exploring the Self Feeding Cycle: The School to Prison Pipeline, Phillip Agbesi, NCCU
  • Projected Transitory Food Insecurity in Durham County Following Hurricane Florence, Kaylee Sciacca and KaLynn Harris, NCCU.

Conference Program

The conference will begin at 9:30 on November 9th and will conclude at the end of the annual business meeting, around 2:30.

Conference Venue

The conference will be held in the Mary Townes Building on the campus of North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC.

Parking and Directions: If you are coming from off campus, there are two large parking lots on Lawson Street near the Mary Townes Building on the NCCU campus. The address for these parking lots is approximately 200 East Lawson Street, Durham, NC, 27707 for your GPS. The conference will be held in the Mary Townes Building next to the BRITE Building (the building adjacent to the parking lot). Once you park in the non-reserved spots in the upper lot (row furthest to the left) or the lower lot and go up the stairs, you will walk under the BRITE building and you will see the entrance to the Mary Townes Building straight ahead. My conference will be on the first floor (go left after you enter the building) and the conference will be in the lobby and Room 1233. Head to the conference registration table when you arrive to check-in and pick up a parking pass.
